Indy Fresh Market was conceived from the need to bring a full-service grocery store to a neighborhood formerly classified as a food desert. Thanks to the collaborative efforts of Cook Medical, Goodwill of Central & Southern Indiana, Central Indiana Community Foundation, the City of Indianapolis and numerous other contributors, this partnership has resulted in the creation of a premier grocery store that will cater to the Eastside of Indianapolis, providing employment opportunities as well as convenient and easy access to fresh foods.

Michael McFarland and Marckus Williams, neighborhood residents who led the store launch, have moved into an advisory role at Indy Fresh Market. Goodwill’s role expanded accordingly to include the day-to-day operations of Indy Fresh Market, resulting in a pay increase for employees as well as full health benefits.
